Joe Frazier -vs- Jerry Quarry I 1969 | HD Complete Collector's Cut
This Collector’s Cut features the complete fight between Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier and challenger Jerry Quarry. This, the first of their two fights, which took place at Madison Square Garden, New York, on June 23, 1969, and was later recognized as the Ring Magazine Fight of the Year. Parts of the original ABC-TV broadcast were lost by the network. This was not unusual at the time. Video tapes, expensive at the time, were often recycled for later broadcasts. Some shows were archived and have since been preserved, but other programs, perceived as less important, were discarded. However, ABC-TV was not alone in filming the fight. The venue, Madison Square Garden, routinely shot films ...

I wish they would have heavyweight fights today where the fighters weigh between 176-200 pounds.180 to 200 is still heavyweight.Forget the stupid cruiserweight division. Rocky Marciano weighed 184 and was knocking guys out 200 plus pounds.

Dempsey was 180-190 pounds.Any fighter who weighs over 175 pounds packs a punch that's 1000 newtons of force.Any weight over 175 is heavyweight period.

I’m pretty much a casual boxing fan and havent been watching much lately but seeing stuff like this reminds me why it’s such a great sport, footage from a fight 100 years ago that’s still debated, great video, I’m gonna send it on to my old man.

CStriker. Don’t think many modern heavyweight fighters were as strong and durable as Jeffries and he most likely would have adapted to the era. Just my opinion

I've watched a lot of Dempsey's fights, and I have seen countless times...after a knockdown, the ref places himself well away from the downed fighter and allows Dempsey to stand directly BEHIND the downed fighter while the ref counts. The ref allows Dempsey to stand over the fighter, and the second the fighter gets to his feet Drmpsey sucker punches him. I've seen it numerous times in numerous fights. Not impressed with Dempsey at all...the boxing world must have been extremely desperate for a hero. Rocky would have destroyed Dempsey.

Comedian Freddy Lewis once got so drunk at Jack Dempsey's restaurant in New York City that Dempsey himself asked Lewis to leave his establishment. Lewis apologized to Dempsey 3 days later via a (collect) phone call from a payphone in Waxahachie, Texas.

Sonny Liston fought Billy Jointer twice. The fight shown here he stopped Jointer in 7 rounds. They fought the next year 1969 it went 10 rounds. Jointer landed some good left hooks in this 1968 he was stopped in 7 rounds. Good fights not the Sonny Liston of 1962 who knocked out Patterson twice in round 1
